Kream Up Volume 2 Recap

Well its the end of a great year for the Budda Kreamas. To recap the year in somewhat of a chronological order documenting the making of Kream Up Volume 2.......

1. It was at a party after the 1st of the year at Nikki and Sheena's when Nick, Fletcher, and myself talked of starting to film for Kream Up Volume 2. I remember asking Nick and Fletcher if they were down for a part and we committed to filming a video. Filming didnt really start until a month or so after but thats beside the point. This marked a point in which we got motivated to skate. Since this is a SKATEBOARDING ONLY blog (PETS OK), Ill focus on skateboarding, since its the main thing that the virgins who look and contribute to this blog are really looking to find on this site.

2. It snowed we skated outside a bunch
3. It snowed some more we skated inside.

Skate Church Sesh from Alex Strandell on Vimeo.

4. It snowed and we went to Helena a lot.

5. Oregon happened. Best spring break ever. So many Memories with great friends.
6. It kept snowing. Diekman was enraged.

7. School was over we went to Helena a Bunch. Filming Stepped into gear.
8. HAKAS
9. Summer was super fun got tons of filming in and more and more people were getting shots and parts in the video. Barbecues and moving were highlights of the end of the summer. We started a skate frat called Beta Kappa Kappa and are having a lot of fun living there.

10. Logan and I set a tentative date of September 24th for the premiere. That was changed a few times and we finally set on a date of October 1st. Filming was in full gear. Hammy and Andrew got parts and filmed them each in a month. Filming enders and editing the video were pretty hectic but in the end were the best. The premiere was a blast. Such a burden off my shoulders and a great party with awesome friends. Spending time with my friends and putting a product that we can enjoy was worth it. Thanks to everyone who filmed with me this year. I cant wait to do it again.

Since the Premiere.......
11. Landing Pad, Winter savior with helmets.

12. Snowboarding with friends. Better than the Landing Pad.

13. Pets in the Kreamer Mansion. If you thought it could get any zanier...

Thanks for the great year 2011 will be even better......hopefully Shift for Better v. 2?

Brooklyn

the brooklyn street skate spot is a local portland DIY effort to revitalize a tiny patch of a lot under a walking bridge, between a working class neighborhood and an industrial area in southeast portland. its pretty awesome to see how fast it has grown. it has recieved city approval after construction began and so it here to stay for at least a few years hopefully, and is the largest aproved DIY spot in the city since burnside. dirty skaters slashing around is so much better then what the space was previously used for, i read in the newspaper that over 30 used needles were pulled out of the ground when they were digging it out. i love to see something like this happen in bozeman, and revitalize a empty spot in the town until it gets built upon by the owners (Big O tires anybody?)

junk jam

this is a shot of my old friend Jackson taken in front of his dad old place down the street from my house, probably around 2000. this is only a shred of the wacky stuff he would do, jackson didnt know the pros really, and hardly knew the names of tricks, but would still skate bigger and faster and sketchier then anyone. less of a snobby skater confined to the shackles of what tricks and trends are currently core or in vogue, but rather just a really weird kid who just so happened to skate some gnarly shit. now jackson lives in an airstream trailer with girlfreind in missoula. still doing things his own way.

FINALLY HAKAS!!!!

HAKAS Montage 1 from Alex Strandell on Vimeo.

GSD In Minneapolis

So in spirit of GSD write ups on the Budda Kreamas Blog I will tell you my experience of Go Skateboard Riding Day. So I met up with young Nathan Cameron at my old high school and headed towards Minneapolis. I stopped at the 3rd lair to say hi to some old co workers, promply took out a kid and skated the boomerang. Headed to Henklers to watch some n00b pwnage and head to Familia. On the way to Famillia we cranked the heat all the way up and got it up to a balmy 95. At Famillia there were hundreds of kids waiting to take it to the streets. Headed towards downtown via road. There pack took over traffic and didnt stop at red lights. The group stopped at some spots and Henkler gave out some bucks for bangers. Skating down the streets blocking traffic and having security and cops not able to do much is pretty darn cool. Headed towards a Chinese food place and feasted. We went to the liquor store and tried to buy Bud Ice but they were fresh out, so I had to settle for 312. Drank a beer on the porch at Kyles and then went for a small sesh at the Hiawatha Bowl. Overall an awesome go skate day.

GSD from my POV

Woke up at six. It was like fucking christmas morning. Only I had no parents and I was hung over. Anyway I promptly spent the morning bidding on EBAY. Success. Called Nick Webers Dumb ass. He picked me up and we killed it. I decided i would film a GSD montage exclusively making fun of the berrics. Keep your eyes out for that one. Anyway Black Logan was at the park and asked me to fix his camera. I had no idea how to. But i was pleased to see him follow in my footsteps. Went to burger king, used some noss for part of the trip. When finished ordering the lady asked " will that be all" nick promptly yells "best beliiiiieeeedatttt." I'm pretty sure we received spit in our food. Nick dropped me off, beebzor and me pwned news for a few, and promptly went to the park. Once a the park we skated and filmed. I insisted on doing a rock to fakie with black logan in my arms. He was skeptical, so i said i would do it with a tire first. I fell but finally made it. I decided i shouldnt drop my black counterpart. We then went back to my house and PWNED more newbs, as I had to offload footage. Drank some beers, Went to TBELL and filmed that shit. Went to the park, killed it. Went back home, fell asleep on the couch for three hours, hit up the park again, and watched cody crash tyler's mo-ped.

All in all a great day.

gsd 2010

Woke up around 8am from a phonecall from Logan, "want to skate the park"? We hit it up for a bit, filmed some box tricks, and left cuz I had class, into to Religion. We talked about Christianity. Got the hell out of there, went home, ate, and went directly to the park. Skated for a good amount of time. The energy at the park was good, everybody was ripping. Someone mentioned street skating and Beebzor, Alic, Mia and I went to the foundation spot thing on 19th and Kagy. sort of fun. Logan would have joined us but he fell asleep at home. Drove back to the park and got some good turns in. After that, Fletch, Cody, Feastman and myself went to burger bobs for some beer, and a burger. Back to the park one last time for a little bit more.

All in all, I would chalk this one up to be a pretty good GSD. Good weather, good friends, good skating... what more could one ask for?

OMGLOLZORZLMAOTTYL

Went to class, had a job interview, then sat at home eating corn chips and watching the History channel. I was pretty bored today due to the rain, so, naturally, YouTube was my savior. Here is a trailer from my buddy Travis Bradford in Missoula. I get way more stoked on local videos than I do professional ones. Also, I am pleased with the way filming has been going for Kream Up V.2. I want to get a small crew together for a filming trip to Missoula this summer. There are a few tricks that I messed around with in highschool that I got close to but never quite made, and I would like to get them over with. Lets plan soon.

Rasta skateboard super hero

So I after watching this video I had to go back and re-watch it because I found myself just watching his huge mop flap around during each trick and thought to myself about how difficult it would be to ride and do drops. Its reminds me of a cape, Adelmo Jr. is like a rasta skateboard superhero. with his dreadlock cap he fights crime. Then I had to watch it again so I could understand what the tricks actually were.

Summer is here.........

In my absence this weekend Logan, Nick, Brian, and FEASTMAN filmed and stacked some major footy. The project is coming along well for it being the first week of our HAKAS. Which got me to thinking we need to start filming ridiculous things outside of filming skateboarding. Such as the widowed Guggemos skit and Diekman mannueling halfway across the world. I think a few random shots of Nick drinking milkshakes. Besides traveling to parks and skateboarding debauchery must be doccumented this summer.

Really what it gets down to it the summer experience can be summed up by any DJ Khaled song or whatever he does. We just need to win since skateboarding is a sport. A very competitive sport with infinitesimal rivalries and feuds right?

Its going to be a KA summer.

well

Today I graduated from Montana State University. I still have 6 credits over the summer, but I pretty much sealed the deal as far as getting a diploma goes. It seems like yesterday that Aven and I are filming at the Osprey Stadium in Missoula for "Milltown DAMN!!!!!", and I am writing funny stuff that happens as senior year of highschool flies by. But as I look back now, these last four years have been the best of my entire life. Freshman year I step foot inside my dorm room to find that the person I will be living with is named Scuba. I could not have asked for a better roomate. Playing HALO on the campus server was more fun than I could have ever imagined, and working the front desk of Langford from 4-8 AM tuesday and thursday sucked. Sophmore year was amazing for many reasons. I was able to travel to Las Vegas with the fourskin crew. I am so thankful to have been a part of this trip... drinking and experiencing Vegas to it's fullest potential while 19 years old is an amazing thing. Also, the ButterKreamaz came into existence. I still remember going to Wal-Mart and picking out our Kreamer Bandanas, and assigning team numbers to everyone. My first summer in Bozeman rolled around, and it was the best summer of my life. I had an awesome girl in Missoula, a job at the coffee shop with all of my best friends as co-workers, and plenty of skating and porch-beer drinking. That fall I went to Europe. The best decision I have ever made in my entire life, hands down. I experienced people and places that I could never have imagined. There were so many times when I would think to myself... "I can't believe I am here right now". I finished up my junior year with plenty of skating and photography projects. Summer rolled around again and I went on one of the funnest trips to Helena, that will forever be known as the "Hot Keystone Ice Tour". I traveled around the state and headed north to B.C. with Scuba and Darren. Senior year showed up, and I worked my ass off on the Google Maps and the Small Town Skateparks projects, and the Saints won the Super Bowl.

I guess what I am trying to say is that college brought me into contact with some of the best people in the entire world. The friends I have made in college are some of the best I have ever had. I am so proud to call myself a ButterKreamer, or a graduate of Montana State University for that matter.

During my graduation ceremony today, the speaker said something to the extent of... "there are many different paths that you can take in life. Some are good, and some are bad." As far as I am concerned, the path that led me to Bozeman was the best one of all.

Thanks to all the people that I have befriended these past four years... you are the best friends I could have ever asked for. Thank you for the best times of my life.

Asher Roth is right...

Kream Mag #1

Here is the link to download KREAM Magazine issue #1. I am not sure if the mag will be single pages or a spread? Anyway, I hope everyone likes this thing. I am glad that we have a video and two magazines to document this amazing trip we went on. This trip was, for me, a sort of skate-trip-to-end-all-skate-trips. When I am an old man, I will look back on these times so fondly. And the good times just keep on coming. Anyway, here is our magazine.

its all happening.

so me and max and ebin took a trip up to whitefish from Thursday to sunday. it was the "its all happening tour". on thursday i woke up got hella medicated and made a dank breakfast of granola yogurt and 5 or 6 kinds of fruits.....so dank. then i went up to campus and withdrew from a class which felt good. cody was working so i stoped off at rmr for some drank crossword and flirting with one of the cute girls who works there. then i rode to world boards to price new stuff and flirted with that cute chick who works there although i can never remember her name. we discussed alien workshops andy warhol series, it is probubly my favorite board graphic series ever. then back to the house for mad bowls and packing. we got on the way and smoke like 9 bowls on the way. got home to dank bbq ribs compliments of my old man...oh so dank. the next day me and max met up smoked some pot and went to spirit i got new trucks, thunder lights 147, chris cole signature soty. and max got a new complete cause he lost his the other day when he was black out. that night it was three of our homies birthdays so we went over to their party and got wasted hit on ladies and play brew pong me and chrono came out victorious in 2 out of 3 i think. race casey ray lightness and a few other kali dirts showed up that was chron. then i fucked up my hand. basically i took a we corner too fast with a bottle in my hand and went down. lots of blood, i sobered up enough in a few hours and headed home to super glue up my wounds. if you want a more drametic account of that part just let me know next time you see me. some how i ended up with two phones. then next day was lazy skated a bit got drunk at the same house played soccer it was chill. sunday was easter the fam showed up and we discused pot for like 45 mins. every thing from legalization to edibles to blunts and strains. i got drunk then got more drunk on the ride back. we stoped in helena for munch and a tinny skate sesh. we saw fleshy bro brah, unkle even, johnny mac, and ultamite kurt which was nice soon enough we got on our way and had a huge safety meeting. tour video is a possibility.

These are from about two years ago. Bjorn and I went on a day trip to Butte, to skate. I think we filmed a bit for Taking it to the Streets. This was also the day that I shot the photo of Bjorn doing the frontside ollie in this ditch that was in Thrasher.

my only two things is dislike about spring...

with all this warm weather these days the streets is callin me!

cruising seems to be a hot topic of discussion and debate about the internet world these days. every company is making little pointy boards and putting up videos of dudes rippin around the streets on them. lord knows the kreamers are down for a good saturday booze cruise, or rather, a caturday doosh cruize! the latest post on boil the ocean showed me this short snippet and made me think two things..

1. how much i cant wait for spring break and shredding with my friends around portland. the place is beautiful, the spots are sick, the parks are just as sick, having a bunch of bros there will be rad again, and it certainly doesnt hurt i get to see my girlfriend too. i cant wait to graduate and move!

and 2. dear brent atchley, i dont care what those meanies say aboutyour fake forced style, it doesnt look too terrible these days and you seem to be dangleling your foot much less. but please, for the love of god, pull up your damn pants! i hate seeing your sweaty booty crack when you do nose manuals! plus having to walk around with your waistline so low will cuase hip dyslasia! you'll be sitting like the slawrus by the time you're 35, and no one wants that.

plus brent, did you get dropped from element altogether? by all accounts i hear you're a kook, and i hear you got dropped from element clothing and shoes before the they went belly up becuase you were blowing it i guess. but i see you spay painted your element cruiser black, to cover it up while you wait for a new sponsor? hmm...dropped by element, thats like adding insult to injury.

i pray nick garcia gets picked up by someone new soon.

happy shredding

or actually, i want it to be like this...

i think i want my kream up. vol 2 part to be like this...

I can die happy

This weekend was, well, amazing. Started off by eating at HOOTERS in Missoula with some old friends. Cleavage. Drove up north to Kalispell and hung out with my grandmother. She is in her 90s. A nursing home is not the most cheerful place, but her spirit was amazingly positive. I met up with the snowskate crew later that night and shot a few photos. The next day I drove around the flathead area, to Colombia Falls and Bigfork on the search for "smalltown skateparks". Nate gave me a tip and I found the smallest park, if you can even call it that, in C. Falls. Pretty much a little pyramid with hubbas. Got some photos and went to Yeti Jam. It was a pretty good year, nice and warm out. Got some more good photos and went to a crowded brewery. "I have never seen you guys, get out of my sight" was code for, welcome, I need not see an ID. Left and poached a hot tub at Kandahar. Phil frontflipped into the 3 1/2 foot pool from about 15 feet up... twice. Some guy came out and asked us what room we were staying in... silence. We got kicked out but it was all good. Logan and I shared a Toblerone. Drank a few and went to sleep, only to wake up early and GTF out of town. I drove to St. Ignacious and got a few more photos. Drove quickly to Bozeman for the game. I know we are "skaters" and we must hate "jocks", but I truly do love the New Orleans Saints. I have been raised watching football and the Saints were always my team. Anyway, the Saints beat the Colts, and I cried a bit with tears of joy. It feels so good to call myself a Saints fan. blah blah blah jock shit right... whatever. I cannot imagine what is happening in the city of New Orleans right now, but I wish that I was there. I am all about good sportsmanship, and Drew Brees is a class act all the way. A great human being who, along with the rest of the team, has brought happiness to thousands. I feel so proud.

Watch any Lady GaGa music video... cool shit.

New Poll

Check it out.

Now as winter wains......

The winter blues came and went in a matter of days here at the house of kream. Race desperately tried to skate during a snowstorm but resorted to drinking a 5th of rum to cope. The grim sight of 7 skate nerds figuring out a plan of action on a Saturday night was depressing and a bit amusing. Give it a day, it will go away. Skate church revived the stoke. It was a memorable session and cured the winter blues for some. Thanks for all who came it was the best, see you next week.

Some more randoms from my iPhoto collection.
First we have Yoyo, gapping from the top of the bookshelf to the couch, as seen in Kream Up V.1
It's great when people who don't normally skate big gaps push as fast as they can and take flight. This is Bjorn, and he took some slams jumping this one. My photo sucks. This is from three summers ago.
This is our own Nathan Witbrod, skating a tree's root, protruding above ground just enough to pivot the fuck out of  it.

HAWAII

so hawaii is chron as fuck. i've been snorkeling a bunch and that is fun as fuck. it so bizarre seeing all those tropicall fish and choral and what not. i hiked around a volcano and through a crater created by an old volcano so dope. i've see so many dank plants that look like they should only exist in scifi novels. plus hella waterfalls, one was 42o feet tall......yeah dude 420...like weed! i've been wearing cutoffs the whole time and it feels great. i got a sunburn which feels great. i've been skateing alot there is soooooo much chron natural tranny here its rediculous, i did my first 360 flip to fakie along with a few other new ones. i even skated on some smooth lava it wasn't much maby a foot long flat gap with very little run up and run out and it hurt alot to fall but was totally worth it. i saw sea turtels for the first time ever that was dope.......what else is happening.....drinking with my family and what not is interesting so was discussing tripping with my parents. i've been eating so much chronic fresh sea food. well i can't think of any thing else so i'll this be the end. i can't wait to hang with you maufukas and roast a fat ass bleezy!

WinterBreak

My time in Missoula has been, for the most part, pretty boring. I wake up at 11, sit around till the evening, watch skate videos on the computer, and maybe go out at night. There is a bar here called the Top Hat, and it is pretty prime. I did buy a growler from some guy who called himself "Cheddar Bob", and his story and words of wisdom are printed on the glass, along with a picture of a cheddar cheese wheel holding a growler. I skated MOBASH yesterday and had a damn good time, but it has been snowy and rainy here. Too bad 52 aint open, but they WILL BE OPEN AGAIN SOON (according to their website, but who knows). Like Diekman, I too am fond of Krooked and the people who skate for them, such as this guy Brad. I made a Tye-Dye shirt the other day like a true Missoulian. I got a new car, shes a beauty. I bought Beauty and the Beast 2 and we all got background props, including my parents, who should have brought the pugs to the event. Over on the links, I added a blog by some dude who likes to talk skating. Theres a lot to read and its all pretty interesting. See you folks in a few days.
